Police Training
Police Training Supporting Victims Police Recruitment Racial Crime Crime Prevention

We will ensure that all police officers and ‘key’ civilian personnel receive cultural race relations training in order that they are able to deal with the increasingly rich diversity of our local community. This will be achieved by:

Developing anti-racist training programmes in consultation with key partners.

Using local people as community contributors to assist in the training process.

Providing cultural racial awareness training to police officers (and civil staff) by way of an on-going training programme.

GCRE giving briefings on local cultural race relations’ issues to all new officers.

Seconding officers during their probationary period to the Community Safety Unit.

Providing specialist role based training to all Community Safety Unit staff.

Providing crisis intervention training to identified officers.

Training officers in criminal and civil law processes and the role and responsibilities of other agencies.
